Bailey Employees of the Month
He is the 8th Grade Special Education Team Leader at Bailey Middle School, overseeing referrals, serving on key data teams, and supporting students in resource blocks. A 12-year staff member, he loves sports, family travel, coaching, and helping students succeed.
- Joe Pisano (Debcember)
He is an 8th grade science teacher at Bailey and has been there since starting as a sub in 2003, teaching 6th–8th grade. His life revolves around his kids’ activities, and he enjoys travel, music, and his pets. He loves the variety each day brings and truly enjoys his work.
- Gregory Heudorfer (December)
She began teaching ELA in 2013 and became a Writing Coach in 2021, designing engaging assignments for 7th and 8th grade ELA and Social Studies. She loves helping students find their voices. Outside of school, she enjoys adventures with her two daughters.
- Shayna Zyskowski (November)
He has been teaching math for 18 years, joining Bailey in 2021 after teaching in Arizona and New Haven. He enjoys cooking and hiking with his family and has ridden his bike across Iowa four times. He loves seeing students have “aha” moments!

In her ninth year as a School Social Worker, she supports students across programs, created a Life Skills curriculum, and supervises interns. A former rock band singer, she loves music, True Crime, and giving back to West Haven while connecting with students and families.
- Katherine Scalesse (October)
Celebrating 32 years at Bailey, including 30 as a 7th grade math teacher! Now Math Facilitator, she supports teachers and students while loving every moment of learning growth. When not at school, she enjoys crafting, beach walks, and exploring the world!
